The NEW Cesena Campus, opened in 2019, is a dynamic young branch of the University of Bologna with its centuries of tradition. Firmly rooted in a highly productive local area, Cesena offers a degree programme catalogue that stands out for its scientific and technological leanings and for the quality of the teaching.

Journey plan

From Bologna International Airport (BLQ)

Cesena is almost 100km far from Bologna; the most convenient way to reach Cesena from BLQ is via train.

  • First, take the Marconi Express, the monorail train that leads to the train station. It is operative from 05.40 until 24.00, 365 days a year; it is a 7-minute ride, with trains every 7-15 minutes, depending on the time of day. In case of problems with the monorail, alternative (and slower) buses are used. Round-trip tickets cost 17€ and can be bought online or directly at the airport's automatic vending machines.
  • Then, take the train from Bologna Centrale to Cesena. This is a busy line, so trains are available at least every hour, and the ride is about 1 hour. Regional trains (no seat assigned) cost 7.35€ one-way and can be bought online or directly at the airport's automatic vending machines; in case of online purchase, you need to select a specific ride, but if you miss it you can use the same ticket for the subsequent rides (within a 4-hours window from the departure time of the train you missed). Fast trains (with seat assigned) cost up to double the price, but still take 40-50 minutes.
  • Finally, either walk (the Campus and most Hotels are within a 1-1.5km distance, i.e., 15-20 minutes; check the map below) or take a bus (check the bus map and the bus timetable), but beware of low frequency in the weekends and in the evenings). If you wish to call a cab, you can call +39 0547 610710.
There is also a Shuttle bus service that goes directly from BLQ to Cesena (1-hour ride, 25€, 7 rides per day), but the drop-off zone is just outside the highway (5km away from the city center) with very inconvenient bus connections (absent during weekends), so this option is not recommended.

By car

Cesena can be reached via the Autostrada Adriatica (A14) or SS3bis.

Accomodation

Participants will be accomodated in 3 stars hotels at a walkable distance (about 1 km) from the city center, the Campus and the train station.

Accomodations are in single/double rooms. All BDMA and DEDS students will stay in double rooms.
